Olivier Bois von Kursk
Policy Advisor
Olivier Bois von Kursk is a policy advisor working on energy transition scenarios with IISD’s Energy program. His work focuses on the policy implications of net-zero emissions scenarios and the phase-out of oil and gas production in line with the Paris Agreement goals. Working in collaboration with civil society organizations, he generates impactful knowledge through research and analysis to align energy investment and policy decisions with ambitious climate targets.
Before joining IISD, Olivier worked for the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP)—Copenhagen Climate Centre where he coordinated the production of the UNEP Emissions Gap Reports. These assessments have provided annual updates on global greenhouse gas emissions pathways and progress toward achieving national mitigation pledges while offering policy recommendations on how to close the emissions gap.
Olivier also worked with the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) Berlin and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, where he conducted research on sustainable finance. He holds a master’s degree in international economics from the Berlin School of Economics and Law. He speaks English, French, and German and is based in Montreal, Quebec.
